Choosing a UK supplier of laboratory research materials
Practical criteria for evaluating a research materials supplier: documentation, batch traceability, stock location and communication.
Documentation
Look for batch-specific analytical documentation where available, with the testing laboratory, date and method clearly stated. Generic documents that do not reference a batch number are of limited use.
Traceability
Each vial or kit should carry a batch or lot number that can be matched to its paperwork. This makes it possible to trace a material back if questions arise during your work.
Stock location and delivery
Domestically held stock avoids customs delays and lets the supplier dispatch on a tracked service. Ask where stock is held and which delivery service is used.
Communication
A responsive supplier with clear terms, order confirmation and transparent payment instructions is a good sign of an established operation.
